How to Add a Song to Your Blog

While most blogging services allow you to add blog posts, archives and photos without having to leave their website, you will usually have to turn to other websites that specialize in streaming audio when you want to add a song to your blog. The music website will provide an embed code that needs to be added within the hypertext markup language (HTML) of the page in which you want the song to appear. These websites allow the song to appear inside an online music player so people can listen to the song without leaving your blog

Step

  1. Complete the free registration process on the Mixpod website by going to the Mixpod homepage and filling out the registration form that appears after you click on "Sign Up." Looking for my music? Find My Music on Facebook. Sign Up Free Now
  2. Return to the Mixpod homepage and click on "Login" to sign in using the username and password that you selected when you were signing up.
  3. Browse over "My Playlist" in the top menu and select "New Playlist."
  4. Choose what you want the music player to look like by clicking on the design that you like.
  5. Type the name of the song that you want to add in the search bar and press the "Search" button. If the song exists on the Mixpod database then it will appear in the search results below.
  6. Choose the song from the search results and press the plus sign next to it to add it to the playlist.
  7. Go to the "Save Playlist" tab at the top and provide the following information.
    • Playlist Title.
    • Playlist Description.
    • Genres (what type of music is in the playlist).
    • Playlist Tags (keywords describing the playlist).
  8. Press the "Save (get code)" button.
  9. Copy the embed code and paste it within the HTML of your blog where you want it to appear.
    • If you use a blogging service such as Blogger or WordPress you will have to go to the page where you can edit HTML.
    • If you have an independent blog that you write HTML for then just include the embed code within the rest of the HTML that you create through programs such as Dreamweaver.

    Tips
    • Make sure you save the changes that you make to the HTML after you add a song to your blog. You should view the blog to check that the song is playing correctly and that the online music player that you selected on the music website is appearing the way you want it to.
    • If you use a blogging service you may be able to add embed codes and other HTML content using widgets such as the "Add HTML" widget on Blogger and the Text Widget on Wordpress. These widgets will appear as elements of your blog design.
